A gorgeous silk scarf, handmade by local artist Aline Johnson, using a 19th Century process called Cyanotype.
This is a photographic process, using foraged fern leaves, iron salts and sunshine to create a beautiful print. The leaves are used as stencils, with the areas exposed to light gradually taking on a different, darker colour whilst the hidden areas remain a brighter, often contrasting hue.
This contrasting underside matches the leaf detailing on the front, and gives a wonderful two-tone effect when worn.
This is a thin, beautifully soft silk scarf, that drapes elegantly around your neck without being too 'bulky'. It could alternatively be worn in the hair, it’s lightweight nature lending it to stylish ‘up-dos’ or wrapped round the head as a hair band.

PLEASE NOTE: It’s hard to capture the colours accurately, and of course different screens show them differently too. Overall, the best represent these scarves are the ones showing the contrasting underside. The colours could be described as follows:
- Blue - Darkwash denim blue with airforce blue underside
- Burgundy - Midnight blue with burgundy underside
- Green - Teal blue/green with pale jade green underside
- Orange - Dark taupe with terracotta underside
