Judy Tate
Vibrant Pastel Art ‘Bloc’ Prints
Judy Tate is a local pastel artist with an international reputation - exhibiting annually at the Pastel Society Exhibition at Mall Galleries in London since 2015.
Judy’s work is always loose, and often abstract. Recurring themes include 'leaves and layers', which often start as an underpainting with monoprinting on top. Her studio work often involves flowers and seed heads, and she is well known for her glorious use of colour.
Sketchbooks are hugely important, with ‘en plein air’ sketching and painting providing inspiration for larger pastel work in the studio. ‘Beyond’ and ‘Behind’ are frequent themes, and many of her landscapes include pathways through the work, leading the eye beyond the frame.
We have a selection of ‘bloc’ - ready to hang/contemporary prints, ideal for anywhere, but especially suitable as art for your kitchen, as they are so easy to clean. These are simply mounted onto a special ‘bloc’ and are mount-less and frame-less, giving a modern and contemporary feel. The simplicity of the treatment gives a vibrancy to the pastel strokes, without glass getting in the way.
Our permanent collection includes local scenes such as Old Harry’s Rock, Corfe Castle, Studland and Sandbanks. We also have a selection of seasonal still life’s, abstracts and floral, garden, countryside and woodland scenes.
